How To Find The Best Teen Treatment

Your Goal

Chances are that you have been battling this problem for some time now and have tried a variety of methods to help your loved one but to no avail; your methods have been unsuccessful in solving the problem and things are only getting worse. We are here to help you break that cycle. Your goal is to get your child the best care possible so that they may go on to live a happy and productive life full of purpose and promise.

Location, Location, Location

As you navigate treatment programs and do your research, make sure you are not limiting yourself solely to programs in your area or home state. While it may appear easier and more advantageous to have your child close to home and family, it could be the very thing that hinders their long-term recovery and success. A change of environment promotes a healthy  and fresh start while eliminating the temptations and triggers of home including negative peer influences, reduces risk of running away or the child’s ability to manipulate family into what he/she wants, not what is best. A new location offers a chance for new insight, the opportunity to try new activities like camping, hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, skiing, snowboarding, horseback riding and more. These extra-curricular activities bring a new feeling of accomplishment and self-worth which only adds to your child’s recovery. A new environment where your loved one is separated from the hustle and bustle, stresses, and pressure of everyday life also allows for your teen to not only learn new talents, but to see what amazing adventures life has to offer outside their narrow perspective of bad habits and behaviors.

Length Of Stay

Expecting to treat a teen who is struggling with a mental health and/or behavioral health issues in just a short period of time like 30-90 days is unrealistic and likely to hurt rather than help your loved one. This is why we believe that in order for a child to truly and successfully recover from their issues they need time to heal and work through their recovery as well as catching up on ay missed school work that has caused them to fall behind in their studies. Our experience is that this takes longer than just a few months. The reality is if you want your child to have the best care possible with real and successful lasting results, than you need to be exploring long-term care; programs offering 3-12 month stays. Do not let insurance and financing determine your loved one’s care; in the long-run you could end up paying more and adding extra consequences to your teen’s life that are just not worth it.

Insurance and Cost

Quality mental/behavioral health care can be achieved. Many programs work with private health insurance plans to help offset cost and a quality program should help you navigate this process. Sometimes insurance does not cover care in full and a program will require out of pocket funds, but again a quality program should help you navigate this process. We would also encourage you to do some research and explore any and all resources available to you to help with costs of care. We understand with everything going on this is an extremely difficult and stressful time. You’re wondering how you are going to afford treatment. You want the best help for your loved one but are asking yourself how you are going to afford it. Do not let anxiety and fear deter you. Do your due diligence and ask questions; the answers may be tough to hear but with the facts you can make the best decision. We here at Turning Winds are here to help you navigate this process so that you are making an informed and educated decision. If you would like to know if your insurance covers treatment, call now at 800-845-1380. You are not alone; we will do everything we can to help.
