Welcome to Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI), a therapeutic boarding school for struggling teenagers. It has been said that it takes a community to raise a child. We are happy, and proud, that our boarding school is a contributing part of that community. Over the years we have worked with thousands of parents in helping their troubled teens embrace positive change. We have developed a proven comprehensive program shown to be effective in helping teens overcome previous negative and destructive behaviors and to embrace healthy new lifestyles.Through the use of our Integrated Therapeutic Curriculum (ITC) and our character education focus we are able to help each teen we work with to be continuously learning and acquiring important "life skills;" skills that once learned, and retained, will significantly increase the likelihood of success after the completion of our "life changing" program.

Mending Broken and Wounded Lives:
We are the cast! When a bone is broken a cast is often needed to hold it in place in order that the body may heal correctly. TWAI’s purpose is two-fold. 1) We offer an ideal environment for healing to occur; and 2) We assist our teens and their families in acquiring the direction and tools necessary to ensure the healing that occurs is sustainable. I graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in December 2008 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Political Science. I had changed my major to Industrial Engineering and then back again to my initial major, Political Science, which is why it took me two semesters longer to graduate. President George W. Rebecca and I wanted to send you some exciting news. We’ve attached a copy of Jon’s first semester grades—A, A, and A- for a GPA of 3.87. He told us “I guess I’m cut out for this college stuff after all.” He has been living in a dorm all semester and recently moved into a condo with a friend he met at college. At one point , I resented. I kicked and screamed and refused that this could help me in any way. I am successful these days, of course everyone has normal day-to-day troubles. But I’m living comfortably, happy, and healthy. I have a few real friends who love me, for me. Not because of a something I have that they want.
