Eating Disorders
Anorexia Nervosa:
This disorder is characterized by the fear of gaining weight, a disturbed perception of the shape and/or size of one’s body and the refusal to maintain a normal body weight. The majority of persons who have this disorder restrict their food intake or engage in excessive exercising.
Bulimia Nervosa:
This disorder is characterized by binge eating, purging, the use of laxatives and/or diuretics. Binge eating is the consumption of extremely large amounts of food all in one sitting. Although the goal is to loose weight, many individuals with this may be of average weight or overweight.
